Google Merchant Center integration

Product feed for Google

Send the products you sell from the same catalog as your other channels. A product that is not ready says what is missing, and Google's decision shows for every country.

How we use Google API data

What is sent to Google

Google has its own rules for text, links, pictures and prices. We check them before a product is sent.

One offer for each variant

A variant has its own SKU, price, availability, barcode and pictures. All variants of a product share one group, so Google can show them as one product.

The SKU is the offer id

Sending a product again replaces its offer on Google. A retry or a second run cannot make a second copy. If you change a SKU, the old offer is removed first.

Identifiers that are right

A barcode goes as a GTIN only when its digits really make one. Otherwise it is left out, instead of being sent for Google to disapprove.

Prices are never converted

If we cannot tell that your prices are in the currency of your Google store, products are held until you confirm it. Google would show a dollar price as euros.

A product that is not ready is held

You see the reason on the product, so you fix it in one place.

1

Text

A title needs to be 150 characters or fewer. We never cut it for you. A description is required, and is cut at a word if it is over 5,000 characters.

2

Pictures and price

A product needs at least one https picture and a price above 0. A missing price is never sent as 0.

3

A link on your website

Each product needs a page on your claimed website. We use a link you typed, the product's Shopify page, or your store's link pattern.

4

Clothing

Where Google asks for them, clothing and accessories need colour, gender and age group, and clothes and shoes need a size.

Countries, and Google's review

Your store has a home country and, if you want, extra countries.

Home and extra countries

The home country sets the currency and language of your offers. Extra countries are other Google countries that take the same language. Google converts the price there.

Google's review for each country

After a product is sent, we read Google's decision soon after, and again about every 30 minutes while anything is waiting. The product shows it by country, such as "DE shown, AT in review".

The home country decides

If Google disapproves a product at home, it is marked "Disapproved by Google" with Google's reason, and you get a notice. A problem only in an extra country is shown, but does not take the home listing down.

Your Merchant Center stays yours

Its own source

Products go into a MarketplaceHub source in your account. Your other sources and your account settings are never changed.

One source for each product

Before a product is sent for the first time, we check whether another source already sends it. If so, we hold it and name that source. You never get a second copy.

Taking products off Google

When you remove a product from the channel, its offers are deleted from Google. When you disconnect, we delete our source, so its products leave Google right away.

Questions about the Google product feed

Why a product is held, which link it needs, and what happens to your other sources.

Still wondering?

Our team replies within a few hours, Mon–Fri.

01 Why was my product held and not sent?
Because Google would refuse it. A held product shows the reason: a missing title, description, picture or price, a title over 150 characters, a link that is not on your claimed website, or prices we cannot confirm are in your store's currency. Fix it, and the product can be sent.
02 Which link does each product need?
A page on your website that Google can open. We use the link you typed on the product, else its Shopify storefront page, else your store's link pattern. The website must be verified and claimed in Merchant Center.
03 I already send products with another source. Will they appear twice?
No. Before a product is sent for the first time, we check Merchant Center. If another source already sends it, we hold it and tell you which source has it.
04 Can I bring Merchant Center products into MarketplaceHub?
Yes, you can import them as a catalog source. You choose to do it; connecting does not start it. Products that another source sends stay with that source.
05 Which countries can I use?
Your store has one home country, whose currency and language your products use. Extra countries must be Google countries that take the same language as your store.
