Two systems that both think they own your stock will overwrite each other. So you choose an owner for each kind of data, and the hub follows that owner instead of fighting it.
Each kind of data has its own owner. The same store can own your stock and not your prices.

Amazon and eBay give us no way to follow price changes made there, so they cannot own price.

A change from the owner is matched by SKU and sent to your other channels. It is not sent back to the store it came from.
A store that no longer owns stock stops writing stock. It can still own price. Each kind of data is checked on its own.
If you change a price the hub does not own, the change goes through. We tell you the owner's next update will replace it.
The switch is a short wizard. It shows you what will happen before anything changes.
The preview names the syncs that will stop and the ones that will start. Nothing is a surprise.
Moving price to the hub needs a price on at least 90% of your products. The wizard can fill the empty ones from your channels.
A product with no price anywhere is never sent as 0.00. A missing price is a problem to fix, not a number to publish.
You do not have to set anything up. When something changes, ownership falls back to the hub, not to a guess.
If you choose nothing, the hub works out the owner from your setup. A store with stock sync turned on owns stock. With nothing syncing, the hub owns it.
Disconnect the store that owns your stock and ownership goes back to the hub. Your channels keep the last numbers until the hub or a new owner changes them.
An order the marketplace fulfils itself, like Amazon FBA, cannot be shipped from the hub.
