Smart Pricing on eBay

On eBay, a rule follows your own sales. A product that sells slowly gets cheaper, one that sells fast gets dearer, and every change stays inside the limits you set. Competitor repricing is not available on eBay.

Priced from your own sales

The sales-velocity strategy needs nothing from eBay except your orders.

Count what sold

A rule counts the units you sold on eBay over the days you choose. With no choice made, it looks back seven days.

Set both sides

Below a number of units, lower the price by an amount or a percentage. Above another number, raise it. Leave a side empty and it does nothing.

Only the products you mean

Scope a rule to one eBay store, one country or everything you sell on. Then narrow it to products by the attributes in your catalogue.

What is not available on eBay

Competitor repricing

eBay's API licence does not allow eBay data to be used to set prices for eBay items without eBay's written consent, and we do not have that consent. So the competitor strategy does not run on eBay. The rule form greys it out for an eBay store, and a competitor rule leaves your eBay listings alone.

Guardrails on every price

Every proposal is checked in the same order, whatever made it.

1

Margin floor

With a product's cost known, the floor is that cost plus the margin you set. It does not count eBay's fees, so set the margin with them in mind.

2

Largest move

A cap on how far a price can move in one run, as a share of the current price.

3

Hard limits

Your own minimum and maximum price. If the limits conflict, the change is dropped.

4

Review or apply

Changes wait in a queue for your approval, or go straight to eBay if you switch on auto-apply for the rule.

When a rule runs

On your schedule

Daily or every few days. A rule runs only when it is due, and a product rests between runs.

When an order arrives

A new eBay order can start a pricing pass for that store straight away.

A record of every change

Each change is kept with the old and new price, the rule behind it and the result. An approved price then goes to eBay like any stock or price change.

Questions about repricing on eBay

What is missing on eBay, what protects your margin, and what a rule never does on its own.

Still wondering?

Our team replies within a few hours, Mon–Fri.

01 Can I reprice against other eBay sellers?
No. eBay's API licence does not allow eBay data to be used to set prices for eBay items without eBay's written consent, and we do not have it. Rules on eBay follow your own sales.
02 Does the margin floor count eBay's fees?
No. With a cost on the product, the floor is the cost plus the margin you set, and nothing more. If you need the price to clear eBay's fees, build them into the margin.
03 Do I need to enter my costs?
For the margin floor, yes. Without a cost there is no margin floor, but your hard minimum and maximum still apply.
04 Will prices change without me approving them?
Only if you switch on auto-apply for the rule. Otherwise every change waits for you to approve or reject it. A rule that covers everything you sell on is always sent to review, however it is set.
05 Does a competitor rule still touch my eBay listings?
No. A competitor rule skips them. A rule that follows your sales still reaches them, if its scope covers eBay.
